定语从句中的关系副词
英语中的定语从句除了用that, which, who, whom, whose等关系代词引导外，when, where, why等关系副词也可以引导定语从句，它们一方面代表主句中的某个名词或代词，另一方面还在从句中作状语，表示从句中动词所表示动作或状态的地点、时间、原因等。
一、when引导定语从句
when在定语从句中用来指时间，其先行词都是表示时间的名词，when在从句中作时间状语。
【典例呈现】
◎I cannot tell you the time when he will come.
我无法告诉你他来的时间。
◎This is the hour when the place is full of people.
这种时候这地方到处都是人。
◎I'll never forget the days when I stayed together with my grandmother in the countryside.
我永远不会忘记我和我奶奶在乡下度过的日子。
◎This was the moment when his career really took off.
这是他职业生涯鼎盛的时期。
二、where引导定语从句
where在定语从句中用来指地点，其先行词都是表示地点的名词，where在从句中作地点状语。
【典例呈现】
◎What do you know about the city where the famous writer grew up?
你对那位著名作家长大的那座城市有什么了解吗？
◎This is the place where he used to live.
这就是他过去居住的地方。
◎We visited the factory where computers are made last Sunday.
我们上周参观了生产电脑的那家工厂。
◎That's the place where we went before.
那就是我们曾经去过的地方。
