①作不及物动词，“落下；跌倒；(气温，价格等)下降”。
eg：Leaves begin to fall in October.十月，树叶开始飘落。
②作连系动词，“变得”。后常跟形容词asleep，ill等作表语。
eg：She was just falling asleep when there was a knock at the door.她刚要入睡，就有人敲门。
【注意】fell是fall的过去式，felt是feel的过去式。两个单词都可跟ill作表语，但意义不同。
eg：She felt ill yesterday.昨天她感觉不舒服。
